Christmas at KEC

The Christmas story is full of unlikely characters:

  • A teenage mother called Mary whose world is turned upside down.
  • A broken-hearted young man named Joseph with shattered dreams.
  • The town of Bethlehem full of busy people who have come home for a census.
  • Overlooked and excluded shepherds working hard to make ends meet.
  • Hopeful wise men, travellers looking for answers.

Those on the margins of society find themselves at the centre of the action. The unimportant get starring roles. The forgotten are the first to know. It’s a story of the unexpected, sovereign grace of God who sends His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to save His people from their sins.

“God has scattered those who are proud in their deepest thoughts.
He has brought down rulers from their thrones. But he has lifted up people who are not considered important.
He has filled with good things those who are hungry. But He has sent away empty those who are rich.”
(You can read all of Mary’s Song in the Bible – Luke chapter 1: 46-55)
