Extracts from Oliver’s Diary
20th December – Youth Conference.
We started with an opening prayer by Rev John ASU chairman of the board of directors of Mercy Foundation, then I gave the welcome address
After serving them with snack in the morning, they were served with lunch, jolof and chicken.

10th December –
I told all the volunteers that we are in Christmas season so our messages should centered on, “Why was it necessary for Christ to be born“
Our text was from John3:16, and supported with scripture verses that prophesied His coming. I visited Ntankoful JHS, Lamisi visited Rev Cobbah Yalley JHS and Esther visited Tanokrom MA JHS.
It’s our prayers that the Lord will use the message to arrest most of them, convict and convert to Christ.
All the schools are writing their second term exams, so they are very busy. Pray for our youth conference that is coming on the 20th. Pray for the Lord’s presence and blessings on our conference.
26th November –
This is the women fellowship meeting. They meet on Monday’s from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Hagar, pastor Moses wife led the meeting. Comfort and Oliver were present to help in their discussion. They were discussing on, “ Why Some Christian Parents Children Go Wayward In Life?” Almost all the women sited their own experiences and questions that came up were answered from scripture. We were all blessed and Hagar ended with a closing prayer.
5th November –
My wife and I are in the Ashanti Effuduasi, my hometown, to visit my mother. Even though old age had caught up with her, she is very well by God’s grace.
The King of the town passed away about two months ago. Very soon a new King will be installed.
Today, only Esther and Sylvester visited schools. Esther went to Dr. Wilkle JHS and her message was from John14:23. Her message was, True love shows in action. She said, love isn’t just about what we say, it’s about what we do. And that, obedience opens the door to God’s presence. God doesn’t live in buildings or temples, He lives in people who willingly loves Him. Sylvester want to Nkrufol JHS, he spoke on the same message he had been preaching in the previous schools. On the topic, Depending on God’s Wisdom. He said, the time he was given was very short, so he couldn’t complete his message. But I pray whatever truth they heard be a blessing to them.
Last Sunday the church had a visiting pastor who blessed the church. My heart felt prayer is that the Lord revives His church. Oh Lord will you not revive us again that your people may rejoice in you.
The women fellowship have been meeting regularly on Monday , and pastor Moses(who has a stroke) wife and the elders have been helping the fellowship. They have been attending in their numbers and it’s very encouraging. The youth fellowship has Zoom meetings on Tuesday. The two speakers for the youth conference on the 20th of December are 1. Mr Benjamin Otoo, former National Director of the Department of social welfare and 2. Rev Ajyekum former Director of Child Evangelism. I pray for the Lord to give them His message for the children.
3rd November
This term is a season for sports. They have three weeks for the sports, and its athletes and football. But on the Friday 17th October, I was permitted to speak to our leadership club, at Ntankoful JHS. I talked about, ‘What Makes a Good Leader’. I spoke for about 40 minutes and left for Nkrufol JHS on the same topic. I considered only five core qualities. A good leader is 1. One who Listens 2.One who Sets an Example 3.One who Has the right Attitude 4. Practice Discipline 5.One who is ready to Serve. Jesus had all these qualities and as we receive Him and walk daily with Him in obedience we will grow into these qualities.
Lamisi, last two weeks Wednesday went to Nana Brempong JHS and last week Wednesday went to Tanokrom JHS. Her topic was on, “The spirit Of Honor”. From 1Samuel2:30 and Roman12:10. She spoke on reverses God first, acknowledging His Holiness and Sovereignty. Secondly, treating people with dignity, respect and value, recognizing that each person bears the image of God. And finally, submitting humbly to God’s established order, such as Parents, Spiritual Leaders and Civil authorities. She made them know all these are possible through faith in Jesus Christ.
Esther visited three schools on the Wednesday’s. First she visited Perry Hartford primary school, spoke to the children on Forgiveness. Second Wednesday she visited Perry Hartford JHS and spoke on the topic, “ Seeking God” from Jeremiah29:13. Spoke on a personal, intimate relationship with God,wanting to know Him, please Him, and walk in His ways. Longing for His presence, truth and Will in their lives. She also visited Crusaders JHS with the same message. She said God can only be found through faith in Jesus Christ. Our youth pastor, Sylvester visited Ntankoful JHS on two Wednesdays, since they have a large population. They have divided the classes into three for worship. Slyvester, did two classes. He talked on the topic,Depend on God’s Wisdom. He spoke from 1Kings3:17-23 and James1:5. His message was that, we too can ask God for wisdom when we don’t know what to do. Jesus is our wisdom.
In all the schools we visited the children were blessed and very encouraged.
Please pray that:
- The Lord will send in more faithful volunteers into this ministry.
- The Lord will continue to open doors into new territories.
- The Lord will strengthen the church elders and leaders. The Lord grant them wisdom, guidance and patience.
- The Lord bless our youth conference on 20th of December.
14th October
I am back in Ghana; I landed on the 6th of October. This is the season for school athletics, so meetings in some schools have become difficult. Another problem is finding faithful volunteers and support, since the government has an employment embargo.
Dorothy is not working with us anymore. She is having an affair with her Pastor. After we reasoned with her from the scriptures, she is still continuing. We have not rejected her and still pray for her. Two faithful volunteers are still in university. We pray their vacation meets the youth conference on December 20th.
The last two Wednesdays, Lamisi went to Anaji JHS and Perry Hartford JHS. The teachers and children were so blessed she was invited back to Anaji JHS. The volunteers always end with the gospel of Jesus.
The church elders are handling the church well. They organized the various ministries. The women fellowship, which had collapsed, was revived by the elders. They meet every Monday, and the Lord is adding to His church.
PRAY FOR:
- The Lord’s blessings on the youth conference.
- Wisdom, strength, and peace for the church leadership.
- Dorothy’s repentance and knowledge of the truth.
- Open doors to support the volunteers.
- The Lord’s blessings on the youth conference.
30th August
During my absence, the elders and leaders have been managing the church activities. Sunday preaching have been done in turns. Maxwell is the presiding elder. The other elders are Richard, and Appiah. Sylvester the youth pastor is also given an opportunity to preach. I was told he preached very well two weeks ago.
This whole week is the youth week, where the youth have their own programs, but supervised by the elders. During the program they praise and worship, time for cooperate prayers and preaching of the word. Their program end Friday, 29th today. The theme for their conference is, FRUITFULNESS. It was well attended and I believe they are blessed. Comfort is improving very well, her specialist doctor monitors her every day on the phone. The doctor is my daughter Muriel’s friend. Getting this doctor was a miracle, it’s God’s intervention and all glory to God. I am the chief baby sitter in Canada, Comfort couldn’t stay because of the withdrawal symptoms. Schools reopens on the 9th of September, but for about two weeks the schools will be busy, so we will start our schools outreach the third week. I return to Ghana on the 6th of October, God willing. Please,
1. Pray for this evening youth final meeting.
2. Pray for God’s wisdom and guidance for the elders and leaders of the church.
3. Pray for new godly volunteers.
4. Pray that the Lord will prepare the hearts of the school children and give us messages to convict and convert them.
5. Pray for Comfort’s speedy recovery.
