Extracts from Oliver’s Diary 

3rd July
Yesterday morning i went with Lamisi to Ntankoful JHS. This school has two classrooms for their morning devotion. The last time I was there I talked to the “B” class, while Lamisi met with the ‘A” class. So I talked to the ‘A” class, while Lamisi talked to them ‘B” class.
I finally ended my message from Proverbs 29:1. Lamisi talked on, God’s Purpose For Their Life’s, and there were many teachers present to be blessed by our message. It was a wall that separated the two classrooms. Schools vacates on the 24th of July.
Coming Sunday God willing, we will get a visiting pastor from the northern region a friend of the church.
1. Pray for his safe arrival and be a blessing to the church.
2. Pray that our meetings with children this term will germinate and be fruitful.
3. Pray the Lord will continue to strengthen the ministry of the church.

1st July
On the 18th, I visited Nana Brempong for the first time this term. As I stated in my previous report, that I use one message for all the schools, till all the schools are done.

There were seven teachers present. I preached from Proverbs 29:1, in conclusion I made them know that Jesus is the only remeby for humans situation.

On 25th, I also preached the same message at Nkroful JHS. The youth pastor Sylvester, visited Rev. Cobbah Yalley, he preached from Eccl 12:1. He told me, the children responded well and were blessed. Sylvia, Sylvester’s sister went to Ntankoful. Ntankoful JHS has a large population, so during their morning devotion, they divided into three classes. She talked on, The Importance of Purpose.

On the 27th, Friday morning, I visited Korsah Complex, spoke on the same for the last time.

Coming Wednesday I will be preaching a different message.

Lamisi went to Woode Methodist JHS. Her theme was. Don’t Try To Fit In, from Ephesians 1:4.

The Friday Leadership club were organised at two schools. Rev Cobbah Yalley, which was lead by Mrs Sadie, an officer at Department of Social Welfare. She discussed their aspirations in life, who is a leader, characteristics of a good leader and some adolescent protection issues.
Ramat went to Nkroful JHS and talked to them on, Self Recovery. Who We Are and Who We Want To Be.

Sunday was the Children’s Day. It was a day devoted for the children program. The children in nursery and KG recited scriptures, those in the primary sang some songs of praise.
A visiting elder Mr Chester Anaba preached from Matthew 13:18-23, The parable of the Sower.

19th June
Last week Wednesday I visited Nana Brempong JHS and this Wednesday I visited Effiduasi Presby DA JHS. I am at Effiduasi, my home town in the Ashanti region, to visit my mother for a few days. I go back on Monday God willing. But, will be back in July for about three weeks. My message to the two schools was from Proverbs 29:1. My purpose is to let the children know, stubbornness and rebellion has serious consequences and that God in His grace and mercy uses their, Parents, teachers, pastor, good friends, relatives to counsel and advice them. I demonstrate from scriptures that Jesus the Christ is the only one who can remedy their situation.

Lamisi went to Lagos Town MA JHS
Theme: I have a purpose – God has a plan and purpose for me.
Scripture: Romans 8:28
Purpose:

• To encourage students to reflect on their own lives, recognizing their unique gifts and the potential they have to fulfil their God-given purpose.
• To offer reassurance that, even in challenging times, God is working for their good and guiding them toward His intended plan.

The From 3 students completed their final exams on Tuesday. We thank the Lord for His help.
Last Sunday Brother Sylvester the youth vice president preached God’s word, the theme The Power Of God’s Word. I am praying that the will call him into the ministry. His message was indeed a blessing.

10th June
The Form 3 students will be starting their exams tomorrow, some schools are writing their exams at a distant centre, the students were asked to pay some small amount for transportation to the centre and many of the students couldn’t pay. So Mercy Foundation supported those who couldn’t pay.

9th June
Our Form 3 students are taking their final BECE exams. They start coming Wednesday to the next Wednesday. Please
1. Pray for clarity of mind , understanding and retentive memory.
2. Pray that they may get the school of their choice.
3. Pray that they come out in flying colours.

5th June –
This afternoon I went to speak with our leadership club at Rev. Cobbah Yalley. Since the form 3 students will be writing their exams next week, I came to encourage and strengthen them with the whole members. New leaders have to be appointed, since all the club leaders are in Form 3.

4th June
Last week Wednesday I visited Crusader JHS and today I visited Tanokrom JHS. In both schools my text was from Proverbs 29:1. And my message was, The Dangers of Stubbornness and Refusal to listen to advice or correction.
Lamisi went to Tanokrom JHS last week, her text was from Isaiah 40:31. And her purpose was to encourage trust in God’s strength and provision during stressful periods. Today she went to Nana Brempong JHS and her text was from Joshua1:9 and her purpose was for them to Trust in God’s Presence and Guidance When Facing Challenges.
Our visit to the schools were a blessing to the children. They listened well and we pray by faith they live it out.
Three of the volunteers, Ramat, Dorothy and Isha, are not feeling well, please pray for their speedy recovery. Pastor George who joined us two weeks ago has traveled to see his mother. This coming Friday is a Muslim holiday.
Please continue to pray for more volunteers.
Pastor John a Northern, who helped me when I started my Northern Ministry in Takoradi, has decided to join us and work with us. But I told him I have to meet with the elders of the church and seek the Lord’s face in prayer.

24th May
This week it’s not only the Form 3 students having their mock exams, it’s also a Professional Learning Community week. Where teachers in each school comes together to upgrade themselves in various fields. It was a holiday for the Form ones and two. It was only the Form three who came to school. But the Lord opened a door for us at Perry Harford JHS. I went with Lamisi to give the talk so I can observe her. Her message was from Joshua1:9 and she gave a good message.
Today I took the leadership club at Dr Wilkle JHS. I also spoke to them from Joshua1:1-9. I considered from the verses, 1. GOD’S PROMISE 2. GOD’S WORD 3. GOD’S PRESENCE. There were about 50 children present. Pray for the Lord’s blessings on our messages. And continue to pray for more volunteers. Pray for the Lords blessings on coming Sunday sermon.

2nd May –
The theme of my message yesterday was, The Danger Of Forsaking The Assembly Of Ourselves’. I made them know that there are times when we are unable to come to church is legitimate and there are times it’s illegitimate staying away of the Assembly. I preached from Hebrews10:24-25, 1Peter5:8-9 and Acts2:42-47. After the meeting some members came to me to complain that the reason why they sometimes they can’t come to church is because they don’t have money for transportation. So I promised to pick them up if they phoned me. Two old members of the church visited us. I also met with the youth of church and planned to meet them on Tuesday 6:30pm. The women ministry of the church have their women Day at the end of the month. Coming Sunday is the Mother’s Day. Pray for these meetings.

31st April –
School’s re-open on the Tuesday, so we will start visiting them the following week. We are in the raining season, and it’s raining cats and dogs.The rain destroyed many people’s properties. Last year it destroyed many of our church properties, so we have built a defense wall to protect the rain water from flooding the church premises. Some of the members have traveled to the North for funeral. Last week I preached on the, The Power Of God’s Word. I made them know It’s powerful to transform and conform us into the image and likeness of Christ. And when used in prayers, the Lord hears us.
Some members like to stay home for no apparent reason, so my message tomorrow is from, Hebrews10:24-25 and 1Peter5:8-9. Pray for tomorrow’s meeting for the Lords blessing.

12th April –
I am still in Accra my car is still giving me problems, it’s electrical issue.
Please pray for a resolution to this problem.

3rd April –
My car has been repaired and now in a very good condition. I would have to drive it around for some days in Accra where it was repaired, to make sure no problems shows up. I put in a new engine.
Hallelujah – I trust this car will now last many years!

1st April –
Yesterday and today are Muslim holidays in Ghana, so school resumes on Wednesday. However, we will visit the school from next Wednesday, to give them time to organize themselves properly. In the meantime, I will arrange a meeting for this Friday, if possible.

We evaluated the impact of our messages on the children with the teachers. I spoke with four teachers from different schools, and they all shared different findings.

The Assistant Headmaster of Korsah Complex mentioned that they have seen a decrease in truancy, rudeness, and drug abuse in the school. A teacher from Tanokrom JHS noted that many students are now behaving respectfully and taking their studies seriously. One student, Philomena, has even begun to seek the Lord earnestly, and I promised to meet with her when I visit the school.

Another teacher from Modernansah reported that the leadership club meetings have not only helped many students gain confidence in their presentations, but have also improved their public speaking skills and also encouraged them to take on leadership roles within the school.

These findings are truly encouraging, and we look forward to continuing our work with these schools.
