Church Etiquette for 2024
- Come. Never miss church unless it is absolutely necessary.
- Come early. Rushing into church at the last minute is not conducive to true worship.
- Come with you whole family. The church service is not a convention to which a family should merely send a delegate.
- Take a place towards the front of the church. Leave the seats at the back for those who may come late, for backsliders, and for families with young children.
- Silence your phone and don’t take calls during the service. You come to hear what God has to say to us.
- Be devout. The church is not a theatre or place of amusement. You come to worship God, not to whisper, lounge, eat or sleep.
- Help strangers to follow the service. If they have no Bible, share yours with them. Always remember that strangers are guests of the church members. Treat them with the same courtesy as you would if they were to visit your home.
- Sing! Join in the worship.
- Give a good offering to the Lord. God loves a cheerful giver. You have freely received, freely give.
- Never rush for the door after the benediction as if the church were on fire. Speak and be spoken to. Be congenial.
- Never stay away from church because the church is not perfect. How lonesome you would feel in a perfect church!
